Deaf YouTuber, Model, and Artist, Chella Man, will be adding ‘actor’ to his resume, as he is lined up to appear in Season 2 of DC Universe’s action-adventure series, “Titans.”

The show is based on DC Comics, “Teen Titans.” The plot follows young heroes coming together to combat evil whilst coming of age and discovering where they fit in.

Man will appear alongside co-stars Teagan Croft, Brenton Thwaites and Anna Diop in the role of the villain Deathstroke’s son, Joseph Wilson (Jericho).

A signing superhero

With progressive hearing loss from a young age, Man’s parents took the decision to teach him American Sign Language (ASL) during third grade. Since then, he uses it to connect on a regular basis, particularly in noisy environments. This skill plays a crucial part in his superhero role as a mute Jericho, who uses ASL to communicate with others.

Transgender Chella who also has bilateral cochlear implants, is a keen activist. He uses his platforms to document his life, raising awareness of deafness and gender identity.

“…it’s a dream come true, as (I) will be able to showcase this power on Titans,” he announced to his Twitter fans.

It’s fantastic that the directors of “Titans” have recognized the potential that Chella can bring to the role, a leading example of #DeafTalent. This follows on from the news released at the end of last year of deaf actress Lauren Ridloff cast in “The Walking Dead.”

It is not yet confirmed when “Titans” Season 2 will be aired, but with Season 1 currently on Netflix, it’s a perfect opportunity to get up to speed before the release date!
