It can be too easy to overlook the gift that humor offers us, as both a way to live with our deafness, as well as to poke fun at something, which all too often is treated as such serious a subject.
These funny D/deaf jokes and memes aim to give everyone a smile. Something which without, we’d all be in a much darker place.
Being deaf or hard of hearing does not mean we have all had a humor bypass. In fact, deaf people can be among the most fun to be around, certainly when it comes to the challenges we all face on a daily basis.
The curse of auto correct
Did you know that the most common auto correct substitute for the word ‘Deaf’ just happens to be the word ‘Dead’. Yep, you’ve guessed it; this slight error can lead to such text conversations as…

A Sign of the times
Signing is a beautiful language; however, it’s also a very visual one. At times those engaged in a riveting exchange may disappear down open manholes or fall foul of rogue banana skins.
Think this couldn’t ever be you? Think again, watching another sign and replying at speed is an all eyes on the ball kind of sport.

My ex-wife was deaf. She left me for a deaf friend of hers. To be honest, I should have seen the signs.
