Police dog’s keen nose helps find lost hearing aid
If you lose your hearing aid, a four-legged friend just may be able to help find it.
A police dog in Switzerland recently made news for helping an elderly man find his lost hearing aid.
The man lost his hearing aid while on a walk in Winterthur, Switzerland, and had almost given up hope to find it, until a two-year-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Kira joined the search team.
Kira is trained by the local police to locate drugs, but can also find simple objects, the police spokesperson told the Tages Anzeiger.
Because the hearing aid had such a distinct smell from its surroundings, she was able to locate it in a neighbor’s garden.

She does not have hearing loss herself, but recently purchased hearing aids for her father and grandmother, who now enjoy a more vibrant life filled with music and social events.
